Pac Div "GMB" Album Review
2011 was a superb year for the three man wrecking crew of the California bread group Pac Div, releasing not only their mix-tape "Mania" but also dropping there first album "The Div." As we saw the new year 2012 come and now has almost gone, lots of people wondered if Pac Div would bless our ears with something new. Well, prayers were answered and back in the summer they announced that they would be releasing their second studio album entitled "GMB" which was recently released earlier this week on November 27, 2012. In comparison to 2011, Pac Div released this album with the hopes of becoming a rare hip hop group that deserves extreme recognition for their dope rhymes and elite word play.
With features from Ty Dolla $igns, Chip Gnarley, Big Silk, Mac Miller, and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few, fans are definitely in for a treat. Tracks such as "Bank","Automatic", and "Cross-Trainers" provide the uptempo speaker bangers, while more mellow sounds are displayed in a track like "Slow" which is produced by Chuck Inglish and basically anything that has his name on it is a banger.
Notice I did not go into great detail about the tracks but I do believe that the only thing holding this album back from being great instead of good is the lengthy track list. The lengthy track list makes the album feel more like a mix-tape rather than an album. Also I believe the features on the album could have went harder, of course Kendrick Lamar did his thing as he always does but the verse that Mac Miller did on "Black Acura" had entirely nothing to do with the theme of the song. With all of this being said, "GMB" is a good album that could have been great with a few minor changes. I would give this piece of work a honest 4 out of 5.
